So, you have heard about affiliate marketing. You have heard how
millions of dollars can be made with affiliate marketing. You
have heard how easy it is to make unlimited cash through
affiliate marketing. Now, you want to jump on the bandwagon and
earn some of those huge profits for yourself. It is easy, right?
After all, you don't need to create your own product, you just
promote somebody else's product and sit and wait for the
affiliate checks to come in. Nothing could be easier.
This concept has enticed many thousands of people towards
affiliate marketing with many thousands of people being bitterly
disappointed. Most people earn almost nothing with affiliate
marketing, and that is simply because they do nothing once they
have placed their merchants' ad on their website.
To be a successful affiliate marketer you need to work at it.
Affiliate checks won't just come in if you sit and do nothing.
You MUST do something. You have to think of ways to
promote your merchant's products better. You have to think of
ways to induce people to click on the link or ad provided by
your merchant and, you have to think of ways to increase your
affiliate sales.
If you are new to affiliate marketing and do try to follow the
laid back approach of just sitting and waiting for the affiliate
checks to roll in, then, I'm afraid, you are on the wrong track.
It just isn't going to happen. Sure, you may get one or two
sales, but this will hardly cover your hosting account.
How are you going to achieve better commissions from your
affiliate sales? Here are some guidelines that may help you to
continually grow your affiliate checks.
Become an expert on your affiliate product
It goes without saying that if you know a lot about your
affiliates' product then you will be able to promote it better.
The best thing you could do, on this score, is to purchase the
product for yourself. You will be able to tell your customers,
first-hand, the benefits of the product, what it has done for
you, your experience at using the product. You may even write
reviews and testimonials, or, personally endorse it. The least
you can do, is thoroughly research the product and promote it
that way.
Host Your Own Website
Try to get your own domain name which is short and easy to
remember. You wouldn't expect a visitor to remember a long and
incomprehensible URL. With the millions upon millions of domain
names registered today and being registered every day, it is
becoming increasingly difficult to achieve this, but with a
little creativity and determination, it can be done.
You may also want to think about creating your own private
website and offer access to anybody who clicks on your affiliate
links. Visitors usually get interested with these private
websites. Also, it gives you a chance to promote your back-end
affiliate products.
Write Your Own Affiliate Ads
Many merchants wouldn't usually mind you writing and designing
your own ads, although you may have to get permission from them
before presenting the ads on your own websites. It is only
polite to do so. Writing and designing your own ads will give
you a greater advantage over the other affiliates who are
promoting the same products.
Participate In Chat Rooms, Discussion Boards And Forums
Related To The Product
Chat rooms or forums may have been something that you ignored at
one time. If so, it is high time you started to focus your
attention to them. There are many forums in all sorts of areas.
Try to find one that is related to your affiliate product and
join in the discussions. You do not have to promote your
affiliate product at once, and certainly read the Terms and
Conditions of the forum or chat site with regards to promoting
affiliate products beforehand. Some forums have specific areas
on the board for affiliate promotions. If you have thoroughly
researched the area of your affiliate product, you will be able
to offer sound advice or expertise. You will find the chance to
promote and advertise your affiliate product as you go along.
You may be able to add your affiliate links in your signature
line, but again, be sure to read the Terms and Conditions of the
specific forum.
Create Your Own Ezine or Newsletter
When you create your own newsletter or ezine, you will be able
to promote it on your website. Offer an incentive for people who
sign up to your newsletter. Your newsletter will be a periodical
that will provide valuable information in the areas of your
affiliate products. A word of warning though, make sure you do
not over-promote your affiliate products in the newsletter
itself. This may greatly annoy your readers and they may
unsubscribe. It would be much better to find a way to promote
your ads and links in another portion of the newsletter. Again,
try to promote your newsletter as much as you can, maybe in the
chat rooms or forums.
These are only a few guidelines to continually increase your
affiliate checks, sales and commissions and I'm sure there are
many more that you can think of and if they work then I won't
discourage you from attempting them. The three most important
things that you will have to do, is to find out:
1. How to attract more attention and traffic to your
site.
2. How to induce your visitors to click on
the links and ads on your site.
3. How to be able
to promote your merchants products, even outside of your website.
If you can do these three things, then there is no reason why
you should fail in your affiliate marketing attempts.
